Lenovo is ruining the Moto brand.

Motorola has been in the smartphone market from quiet few years now and has been one of the most trusted brand. Motorola smartphones have been known for their good build quality, fast software updates, smooth and bloat free android experience and the moto features which make it a good companion and sets it apart from most of the other market leaders.

First Motorola was owned by Google but after they sold the brand to Lenovo, many were worried what would happen to Moto. Lenovo at first kept the Moto brand as it is without doing any major changes in the company. But in the last one year things have changed.
Earlier Motorola line up was pretty simple and it was easier for the users to chose the phone. They had the entry level E series phones, Mid range G series phones, High Budget X series phone and one flagship product each year. But in 2016 moto has launched many devices. Take an example of Moto phones released in India in the year 2016. The line up is as follows.

1. Moto E3 power (Rs 7,999)
2. Moto G4 play (Rs 8,999)
3. Moto G4 (Rs 11,999)
4. Moto G4 plus (2GB/3GB) (Rs 13,500 and Rs 14,999)
5. Moto M (Rs 15,999 and Rs 17,999)
6. Moto Z play (Rs 24,999)
7. Moto Z (Rs 39,999)

If we consider the devices launched in the later half of 2015 like Moto X play, Moto G Turbo, Moto X style, Moto X force, the list becomes more complicated.

Image result for motorola logoBarring the Moto Z series all the other phones seem to be priced in a very narrow price margin and most of the phones have similar features and you hardly notice the differences between similarly priced phones.

Moto M was launced by Moto few days back and the phone somewhat doesn't feel like a familiar Moto phone. It does have the moto features like Twist to open camera, Double chop to switch on/off the torch. Also it comes with some microsoft specific apps which can be considered a bloatware.

Another problem with the phones is that the updates have slowed down and Moto is neglecting the older devices like other brands like Samsung do. The Moto G 2015 which was one of the best selling phone of last year is not included in the Android N update list and also the Moto E phones have been neglected. Security updates have been slow. The boot screen now shows the Lenovo logo which reminds us that Moto is no longer the brand it once used to be.

Google Allo: Doesn't seem to be the market leader anytime soon.

This year Google came up with their messaging app named Allo in order to compete with WhatsApp which is owned by Facebook. There are many messaging apps available in the market like WeChat, Hike, telegram and thus the market is quite competitive. In order to distinguish itself from others Google used artificial intelligence in the form of 'google assistant' available in the app itself. Now when it was launched, people thought that it would give a tough time to WhatsApp. But after a couple of months, We think that may not be the case. There are many reasons for that. Lets have a look on them.
1. Allo was too late to enter in this market. There are tons of similar apps there. Had it entered two three years earlier (even without the assistant) . They should have pulled down Hangout and launched this app.
2. Allo does not come with video calling feature. You have to install Duo for that. While WhatsApp offers both audio as well as video calling feature. So it doesn't make sense to install two apps for that.
3. Assistant feature is good but is in its initial phase. Does there are some constraints to it. Also pixel users have it already so they will not use this separately. Assistant seems to be an upgraded version of Google now. It's certainly evolutionary but not revolutionary as far as its integration in the app is considered.
3. The other features like incognito chat, stickers, ink are present in others apps as well. And they are sort of gimmick features rather than essential one.
