Nowadays a lot of Chinese manufacturers are selling their
smartphones in India at a very low price compared to the other manufacturers.
Their phones have the same specifications which other phones costing thrice as
much as them may have. Every month we see a new company entering into the
smartphone markets. Due to this, the buyers now have a lot of options to choose
from. Especially the entry level and mid-range smartphones are flooded with the
Chinese smart phones. But there are some things to consider. But should you buy
them. If yes, what should you keep in mind?
The first thing that one has to
keep in mind is that a lot of Chinese phones are produced in large numbers at a
time for making enormous profit. Thus the quality testing of these devices is
not that great. A lot of issues are found within a month of using these
devices. This makes the phone less durable and as the user is not happy, he/she
is certain to replace it in a year or so. In order to attract their customers,
they sell their phones via flash sale and thus in fear of missing the newly
launched phone, most people buy it blindly.
Another problem with most of the
Chinese brands is their after sales service. Many users have complained about
it. Many times their service centers are not even present in some of the
cities. Also their customer support is not that great and this makes the
difference. The buyer loses this loyalty towards the brand. Other brands like
Samsung have a strong after sale service and thus customers are more loyal to
them.
The third thing is that most of
these devices are heavily customized with their own skins which take up a lot
of memory and thus the phone feels a sluggish. A lot of bloat ware is
pre-installed and thus the user misses the lag free experience that he was
expecting. For example the Mi and the LeEco device are not as smooth as their
competitors in spite of having higher specifications.
So should you
never buy a Chinese smart phone? We didn’t say that. Some Chinese phones are
certainly value for money (for example, the Redmi Note 3 is a very good
device). You can buy a Chinese smartphone surely. But do keep in mind a few
things. First see the online reviews about that particular smartphone of
various reviewers (Avoid TV channel reviewers because most of them are biased).
See if the phone is having heating issues, other display issues or similar
issues. Also see if the company has a trust among buyers and whether they have
service centers in your area. Keep this things in mind and then only buy a
phone otherwise you’ll waste your money.
